Safety
As an urban university within the city of Chicago, UIC has maintained strong safety and security protocols to ensure the safety of 3000 students living on campus. This includes creating safe and secure facilities, updating technology, and hiring personnel to ensure students feel safe on campus.
Here are a few ways UIC will maintain a safe environment during IRHA 2019.

-
Police/Student Patrol Escort-UIC PD offers escorts to accompany individuals or groups to campus destinations on foot.
-
Blue Lights Stations-Blue light stations are placed around all threes campuses in accessible and visible locations. These stations alert UICPD about emergencies happening on campus allowing them to respond in a timely manner.
-
Desk security-Each sides of campus, including the Residence Halls, have a front desk with desk attendants between 12:00PM-8:00AM that check in guests and ensure all participants are part of the conference.
-
Building Access-All Student Center East buildings require swipe access after hours. Swipe access will be required after 7:00 PM. This will reduce access to only those conference attendees.
-
On Call-Aside UICPD, Resident Assistants, a Resident Director, and a Senior Staff member will serve on call during the duration of the conference. Additionally, the Conference advisors will serve as a backup responders in-case of an emergency.
