UIC is located at the Epicenter of Transportation & Culture

Located in the West Loop of Chicago. UIC is a commuter-friendly campus with easy access to various transportation types. This includes two international airports, extensive CTA map, and major highways. In planning your travel to the conference consider the various options available to your team.

CTA Transporation

The CTA (Chicago Transit Authority) is the primary method of public transportation in Chicago.

The CTA uses interconnecting trains and buses to provide transportation throughout the city and surrounding areas. All train lines are interconnected. The closest train station to UIC is the Blue Line stop "UIC-Halsted". There are numerous maps in every train station and train car with information on how to transfer from different colored lines. There are also kiosks in every train station where you may purchase fare cards for use on buses and trains.

If you are confused about which trains to take, Google Maps has a "Navigate by Public Transportation" option. On the confirmation page of your route, hit the Public Transportation Icon and then Google Maps will give you directions on which buses and trains to take to get to your destination.

​

Note: Fare cards can only be purchased at train stations. If you are riding a bus but do not have a fare card, you must pay with exact change.

From O'Hare

• Ride the Blue Line from O'Hare to UIC-Halsted

From Midway

• Ride the Orange Line from Midway to Harold Washington Library

• Transfer to The Blue Line towards Forest Park

• Ride the Blue Line to UIC-Halsted

Traveling by Train

From Union Station

• Walk west to Halsted St.

• Walk south to 700 South Halsted St. (Approximately​​ the corner of Halsted St. and Harrison St.)

If needed, the IRHA 2019 conference team may assist with picking delegations up from Union Station. This is a very limited service and is not guaranteed. This request will be collected in your registration submission.
